Old pond. A frog jumps in. Plop! 300 years ago, the Japanese poet, Basho, founded the tradition known as Haiku. A haiku presents a seasonal scene, in which something, often surprising, happens. Haiku notices the delicacy of the little moment. A cart goes by, peonies shake. Like Miksang, Haiku is part of the contemplative tradition.
